Hi everybody... today I’m going to talk about an article that appeared in the journal The Guardian. The title of this piece of news is “Government anti-terrorism strategy spies on innocent” and it’s about the steps taken by the British government to face terrorism, especially Muslim extremist terrorism. You might think and say that all countries must be aware and take care of this problem, but, as the title says, the solution found by the British government affects innocent people that have nothing to do with terrorism. The steps taken involve the use of spy strategies to get data about aspects like economic, religion, health, sexual behaviour and some other kind of information that totally violate the human right of privacy.
From the Anthropology point of view, it’s necessary to understand that we are talking about a different culture that sometimes strongly differ from our own, and at the same time, it isn’t possible to make moral or valoric judgements because they live from a different point of view. Instead go judging it’s necessary to find the similarities and differences that may be useful to comprehend why we see these acts like pure violence and terrorism. We have to go beyond this glimpse and be able to accept all those differences that make our lifes richer; in fact, I think that is totally necessary to accept the cultural diversity instead of following just the trends that come from globalized countries, this will lead us to have a new perspectives and solutions for these kind of struggles.

Hello everybody... today`s subject is cinema and films. Concerning to this theme, I have to say that I love going to the cinema; even though, I don’t go there very often because the tickets are really expensive. But remembering the last time I saw a film at the cinema, it was two months ago. Years ago, my cousins and I used to have movie days/nights. I remember we always rented some movies and then we watched them in any of our houses eating a lot of things, most of the time we prepared pizzas. But we all grew up and that sort of “tradition” we had became less frequent because each one of us had many other things to do. Nowadays, I do not rent or buy movies; in fact, I am use to lend them and sometimes I download them from the net.There are many films that I like, but if I had to mention only one of them I would choose “A+Pollux” (2002), which is my favourite one. It’s a French romantic comedy, its director is Luc Pagès and the actors are Gad Elmaleh and Cècile De France. The story is about a man called Halvard Sanz, who is very immerse in the existencialistic principle that says "you always cross important people twice in your life”. This concept is part of the functioning rules of the world along to the law of the constant speed of light. Thus, Halvard believes that he is able to find Pollux again. Pollux is the love of his life but he could not tell her that. He realizes of this when she desappears without any clue and he feels really sad. Believe it or not, he had met her 15 minutes ago and he was suffering really bad.
Actually, I saw this film only once because I could not find a copy to rent it again; even though, it became my favourite film ever. I totally recommend this film because is a very loveable story that follows the French film tradition of having an open ending...

Hello everyone… this week we were assigned to write and talk about Santiago and its touristic places. First of all, I have to say that I was not born here, I was born in Copiapó, and I moved here to start my college studies. Thus, I don't know very deeply this big city and I have not had enough time to go around looking for interesting places to visit because, honestly, I don't like it too much. I think that is a very noisy and polluted city and that is why most of the places that I like here are parks or green areas like Forestal Park or Quinta Normal Park. I also like the museums that are close to these areas like the Contemporanean Art Museum and the National History Museum respectively. I remember that during my first year here I visited many museums because I had a friend who loved to go to those places to see the different exhibitions they had; in addition, she used to say that it was the best way to discover the history of Santiago and that is wahy she used to take with her. Another interesting places I have visited is the Saint Cristobal Hill and it surroundings like the Metropolitan Park and the Botanical Garden. There we can also find some other places like the Zoo and the Anahuac Culture House. Here, it is possible to get the railway and reach to the top of the hill to have a panoramic view of the city. In the lower side of the hill we can find the Bellavista Neighbourhood we it is the Chascona House owned by Pablo Neruda. It is very well known that if you want to experience the night side of Santiago you have to visit this district; there you will find many bars, discos and international food restaurants.

Hello everyone…this week I'm gonna talk about my favourite tv serial. Currently I'm not watching any specific tv serial in terms of being every week waiting for the upcoming episode because I'm not a tv fan. But when I have some free time, I watch them. I have watched many serials, most of them “gringas”, but lately I have been watching two spanish serials about different subjects and one of them became my fovaourite one. It's name is “Aquí no hay quien viva” and it is pure comedy. The story is about a small city building located in Madrid where live different people. Every episode has to do with some living problem within the neighbours of these six flats. First, there are two retired sisters and in front of them lives a gay couple. Then, there is a marriage with their two kids who by the way never listen to their parents; in front of them lives a retired old lady with her 40 years old son and her grand son. In the next floor there is a young couple that have recently moved to the building; in fact, the comedy starts by their arrival because they realise about the messy chaos among the neighbours, in front of this couple there are two young girlfriends that have not found a job. Nowadays, this serial has already finished but is still on screen every weekend at midday. I think that I would not get bored or tired of watching this show because is really funny and sometimes deals or shows any other liberal subject that in our country would never be considered to be shown on tv. Besides, I feel that the Spanish sense of humour is much similar to our reality than the American serials.

Hi everyone!
The subject for this week has to do with the public transportation system that works in Santiago named Transantiago.
The subject for this week has to do with the public transportation system that works in Santiago named Transantiago.
First, if we think about the differences between this new system and the older one it’s obvious that there have been some changes, very important changes actually. Some of the positive characteristics are:
• A very well organized order of time and bus stops (honestly it used to be a mess).
• Then, it provided access for all those people who could not use the older public system, specifically disabled people.
Second, comparing both systems again, my opinion have not changed that much. On one side, I travelled in the older system just for one year and I never had so many problems to move from one place to another because there were a lot of buses that i could use to move from my house to the University. But with Transantiago I had a lot of problems at the beginning because I didn’t have a specific bus that I could take to go straight to the University. Sometimes I had to wait almost 30 minutes in the bus stop!!! But now things have changed and everything has improved; in addition, I can take a bus that goes straight to the University and I do not waste my time in the bus stop, totally an advantage.
At last, I would say that if we want to have a better system for the future, it is necessary to plan very well the routes, add more buses to the routes and especially remove the “old buses” to reduce the pollution of Santiago.

Hi everyone!
The country where I would love to live is France. After all, I have to say that I have always had an “idyllic vision” about this country just like we can see it in movies and books. I like the sort of magic that involves that city, especially Paris, very well-known as the city of love and enchantment, so that would be the first reason of why I have dreamed of going there. The second reason is that France has a very strong cultural and intellectual tradition that characterizes our thoughts; besides, many important authors for my career come from that country.
Concerning to another aspect, if I had the chance of going there, I would like to do two things: first, I would love to complement my post career studies for all the reasons I have already mentioned. But it means to start studying the language first in order to have a better performance there, and I'm sure that it is necessary to focus on our Latin-American reality first. On the other hand, I feel that having a different or foreign perspective about ourselves, especially one coming from a country with a powerful socio-economical development would be for sure a contribution. The second thing I would do there is visiting the surrounding villages and small cities, walking through the magical and romantic streets of Paris, exploring their cultural and artistic life, in simple words, finding out the magic of that country… that seducing magic. Hi everyone,
Today, I am going to write about mi experiences during the first part of this year. First of all, I have to say that in general terms it was a very difficult semester academically speaking because I had many classes and some of them were really complex.
During this previous semester I studied different subjects and I learned a lot form each one of them. But if I had to mention specifically one class I would say that Methodology” (Quantitative and Qualitative) was a very remarkable theme especially because I acquired very good useful tools for the analysis of information. Other thing I learned in the class “Anthropology of the Development” has to do with the study of economical development in different social groups.
Then, if I make an analysis of the last semester in terms of my leisure time the results are not very positive because I did not have enough time to do things. I participated in a sport activity called “Power Fitness” twice a week, but as I said before, my time was very restricted and I had a lot of thing to study. Even on weekends I read a lot, prepared assignments and studied for different tests.
Finally, concerning to my family relationship, there were some people sick but nothing to worry about. The biggest change was that my little brother came to live with me, so I had to reorganize my life in order to fulfill the role of “biggest sister”, and to do the household chores.
